Chloe Bibby joins Valencia Basket on a short-term deal

4 Nov 2026 · Chasing Pro

Chloe Bibby is back in Spain. Valencia Basket announced on 20 October that the Australian power forward would join the women's first team on a temporary basis, and confirmed on 21 October that she had passed her medical.

Bibby is 28 and was born in Horsham, Victoria. The club says she arrives after playing in the WNBA with the Minnesota Lynx. She has played in Spain before. She was with Spar Girona in 2024-25, when EFE reports she was chosen the best player in the Spanish league, and she played the EuroLeague Women with Girona last season.

The length of the deal matters. EFE reports, citing official sources, that it is a two-month contract with a cut clause. The club's own wording is that she is there "to help during the current stretch of the season." Yahoo Sports, citing Athlon, reports she is also heading into WNBA free agency this offseason.

The financial terms of the deal have not been reported.

What it means for the move

Short contracts are a common way into a new league, and they compress everything. The rent, the flights, the medical and the first pay all sit inside a few weeks, and the deal can end earlier than planned.

If you are weighing a short or trial contract overseas, ask a few things first. Who pays for accommodation and the flight home if the deal ends early? When is the first payment made, and in which currency? What cover is there for a medical or an injury during the contract? A cut clause is worth understanding before you sign, not after.

Whatever comes next, plan the cash you need to cover the gaps between pay dates.
